The Opp and Covington County Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the winners of the First Annual Pie Baking Contest held at Opp Fest on Saturday, Oct. 26.
The contest drew talented bakers from across the community, each bringing their best recipes to compete for the top prize.
Taking first place and a $100 prize was Savanah Lassiter with her classic and beautifully crafted apple pie. Lassiter’s pie impressed the judges with its perfect blend of sweet flavors with a delicious buttery crust, setting a high standard for all future contests.
Second place and a $50 prize went to Deana Workman for her French silk pie, a rich and creamy dessert that brought a touch of elegance to the competition.
Third place, winning a $25 prize, was awarded to Jamie Kirkpatrick for her refreshing key lime pie, a bright and balanced treat that captured the judges’ attention.
The Chamber also extended honorable mentions to three outstanding pies: Linda McCart’s strawberry pie, Jamie Kirkpatrick’s peanut butter banana cream pie, and Pam Finedore’s old-fashioned apple pie. Each of these entries brought unique flavors and creative twists, making them memorable highlights of the event.
“The Chamber would like to thank everyone who participated and supported this inaugural contest. We look forward to seeing even more delicious entries next year and continuing to celebrate the baking talents within our community,” Opp Chamber Executive Administrator Joni Lolley said.
