Voter registration deadline set for Monday, Oct. 21

Voter deadlines for citizens of Covington County are fast approaching for the upcoming general election in the state of Alabama.

The last day to register to vote is Monday, Oct. 21. The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot is Thursday, Oct. 31.

If citizen(s) would like to vote and are currently not registered, they may visit the Board of Registrars at 228 Hillcrest Drive in Andalusia or call 334-428-2685. Voter registration is also available online at alabamavotes.gov.

Registration will be open online until midnight or at the Covington County Clerk’s office until 5 p.m. on the final day.

To register to vote in the State of Alabama, an individual must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be a United States Citizen
  • Reside in Alabama
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have not been convicted of a disqualifying felony (or have rights restored)
  • Have not been legally declared “mentally incompetent” by a court

The general election will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 5, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
