Andalusia (3-4, 2-1 5A Region 2) will return home with hopes for a positive outcome in a pivotal matchup against Eufaula (4-3, 3-1) on Friday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m.
This will be the 10th meeting between the two teams since 1947 and their first football contest in 38 years. The Tigers hold a 6-3 lead over the Bulldogs in the all-time series.
“[Eufaula] put up a lot of points against Greenville who we went down to the wire with and pitched a shutout,” Head Coach Trent Taylor said. They are playing with a lot of confidence and doing things the right way. We need to figure out about us more than anything and know Eufaula is going to be a good football team. Our kids are young but have played a lot of football this year. We should be playing better by now and have our kids ready to play.”
Last week, Andalusia fell short at Charles Henderson, 28-12. Eufaula was also on the road and downed Greenville, 38-0.
Taylor said he did not think the team was ready to play in their last game despite a good week of practice.
“That’s not to take anything away from Charles Henderson. We have to do a better job and figure out what that is. For the first time in a while, there were no distractions from anything. I thought our kids were focused on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday last week, but we obviously did not have something right. We have to play better this week against a good football team,” Taylor said.
The Tigers earned a 21-7 road win over the Bulldogs during their last encounter on the gridiron in the second round of the playoffs in 1986.
