Red Level (2-4, 1-3 1A Region 2) will look to compete and continue to play hard against another strong opponent when they travel to Georgiana (4-3, 3-1) on Friday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m.
This will be the 60th meeting between the two teams since 1928. The Panthers lead the all-time series 41-17-1 over the Tigers.
“Georgiana is pretty solid with a lot of skill guys on the field that can hurt you if you don’t line up right,” Head Coach Kenny Skipper said. “They will throw the ball around a lot and occasionally run it but are more pass heavy. We will have to make sure we do a good job in the secondary this week and get where we’re supposed to be.”
Last week, Red Level dropped a home matchup to Elba, 46-6. Georgiana was also at home and came up just short to Brantley late in the fourth quarter, 16-12.
Skipper said Elba brought a lot of experience into the game, and his team had difficulty keeping up on both sides of the ball.
“Elba has a really good football team with a lot of talented guys on that team. I believe they had 13 seniors, and they are receiver-heavy. We did some good things Friday night, but of course, we couldn’t catch up with their speed,” Skipper said.
The Panthers earned a 56-7 win against the Tigers in the previous matchup last season.
