The Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for Rise and Shine Café in conjunction with the coffee shop’s grand opening on Monday, Sept. 30.

Among those in attendance were Rise and Shine Manager Taylor Smith, cutting the ribbon; Madison Lucal, Ryan Miller, Dist. 2 Commissioner Michael Smith, Dr. JoAnne Smith, Shauna Robertson, Piggly Wiggly Store Manager Chantz Robertson, Mr. Pig; AACC Executive Director Mellisa King, right of ribbon; AACC Director of Membership Services Maggie Holmes, left of ribbon; Chamber Treasurer Micah Garner; Chamber board members Katie Tyler Caffey, Marrianne Harper, Michelle Wunsh; and Dist. 4 Councilman Presley Boswell.

“I have known Mellisa for a long time. It is an honor to join the Andalusia Chamber and be a part of this community. We are excited to offer our services to the public and provide an area for people to be social and mingle with one another,” Taylor Smith said.

Rise and Shine Cafe serves espresso beverages such as lattes, macchiatos, frozen coffee drinks, frappes, cold brews, hot drip coffee, and refreshers. Sausage biscuits and bacon, egg, and cheese biscuits are currently offered for breakfast with more breakfast options and pastries coming soon.

Taylor created the layout and designed the drink menu, provided hand-drawn labels for coffee bags, and has been in the coffee industry for five years. She attended the Savannah College of Art and Design and began working with coffee at the time.

“As someone who loves coffee and art, Rise and Shine Cafe is a combination of the two,” she said.

Rise and Shine Cafe held a soft opening this summer on July 1. Located inside Piggly Wiggly, the seating area is at the front of the store and has 16 seats.

“We are locally owned, and our goal with creating Rise and Shine Cafe was to bring people together. Our seating area provides shoppers with room to relax and reminisce with friends. Thank you to everyone for your support,” Taylor said.
