Andalusia (2-3) will travel over two hours northeast and play its final non-region game of the season against Beauregard (4-1) on Friday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m.

This will be the third meeting between the two schools and the first time in the regular season after two first-round playoff matchups. The Bulldogs and Hornets are tied 1-1 in the series.

“Beauregard is having success this season, and any time you have that, it becomes contagious. They are playing with a lot of confidence. From what I can tell on film, they’re a big football team, too,” Head Coach Trent Taylor said. “They have a good run game but also have the ability to throw the ball and get after it on defense. It will be another good game for us to play with us sitting here in a good situation from a region standpoint.”

Last week, Andalusia came up short to Pace at home, 42-13. Beauregard hosted Elmore County in a region game and earned a 31-13 win.

“The game last week was pretty much what we thought. Pace was big and physical, and we played really hard to start the game getting it to one score in the second quarter. Their size and numbers eventually wore on us, but they’re a really good football team. I’d like to think we learned a good bit about ourselves, but one thing that stood out watching it live as opposed to film was their aggressiveness. We will put that one behind us and move forward,” he said.

Taylor added that his team is not panicking despite suffering three losses this year.

“When you are not winning like you’re accustomed to, the kids sometimes start second guessing, but I haven’t seen that. Our kids were visibly upset after losing Friday night, but the mood in the locker room was not one of disdain or pointing fingers. We have great leadership on this team, and our seniors are doing a good job seeing the development of the underclassmen. We will play this one Friday and get back into region play with four tough ones after that.”

The Hornets edged the Bulldogs, 12-8, in their previous matchup in 2012.
