Kenneth R. Odom, beloved follower of Christ, husband, father, grandfather, and Opa entered the arms of Jesus Christ on Sept. 14, 2024, at the age of 75.

Ken was born on Nov. 22, 1948, in Stuart, Florida. After graduating from Martin County High School in 1968, he joined the United States Army. Ken fought and served a tour in Vietnam before returning home and marrying the love of his life Starr on April 3, 1971.

Ken was a very personable soul who enjoyed talking to everyone and was never at a loss for words. Ken loved the Lord and cherished his family. His legacy can be seen in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.

Ken loved cheering on the Florida Gators no matter the sport. His dogs, Scooter and Buddy, were never far from his side. He got enjoyment from reading a good book and traveling.

The name Kenneth R. Odom, CPA, CGFM, CGMA is well known across the accounting profession. He received his bachelor’s degree from Troy University and his master’s degree from Western Governors University. Ken earned his Certified Public Accountant designation in 1977 and went on to earn his Certified Government Financial Manager and Chartered Global Management Accountant designation as well. He served on the Alabama State Board of Accountancy, the Alabama Society of CPAs, the AICPA’s Auditing Standards Board, and the National Association of States Board of Accountancy. Throughout his entire career, whether he was practicing, teaching, or serving on these Boards, he was always advocating for small CPA firms across the United States.

Ken leaves behind his wife of almost 54 years, Starr A. Odom of Gantt Lake, son, Kristian M. Odom (Tara) of Brantley, daughter, Holly Odom Nichols (Levi) of Luverne, grandsons Parker Odom (Kinley), Grant Odom (Reid), Nash Nichols, and Knox Nichols, great-grandson Gaston Odom, and a special lady and former exchange student, Martina Lange and her daughter, Hannah of Mexico City. In addition, he had many nieces and nephews he loved dearly along with close friends he considered family that held a special place in his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Jeannette Odom, and older brother, Jim Odom.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Mann and his staff along with Aveanna Hospice.

In Ken’s memory, a Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2 p.m., at Mark’s Place, 27482 Nalls Road in Andalusia where the family will receive friends.
