“Tales from the Tomb,” a ReAct Theatre and Arts production, makes a return to Andalusia’s historic Magnolia Cemetery the first weekend in October. The historical walk where you meet some of the town’s deceased citizens and listen to their stories was very popular and sold out two “tours” last year. All indications are that this could be a sellout event again this year.

“Tales” has been expanded to three tours this year on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 4 and 7 p.m., and again on Sunday at 4 p.m. Tickets are $10 and are only available on-line at eventbrite.com. Only 100 tickets are available for each tour time. Ticket for last year’s “Tales from the Tomb” sold out, so those interested are encouraged to order their tickets early.

Each tour will begin at the entrance of the cemetery in the parking lot in the rear of the Covington County Courthouse, and for the most part the pathway is handicap accessible.

Narrated tours led by guides will depart with groups every 10 minutes. As guests follow the path, they will be greeted by a new set of characters this year. Along the way they will meet actors relating the stories of Noah Winston Caton, Comer Wilson, Dr. Lester O’Neal, Trammel and Ara Snead Henderson, Edgar Albritton, Maggie Mae Robinson Neal, and Minnie Jane Seale Brunson. There will also be stories of Kate McDonald Plummer, Evelyn Ray Lowman, the family of A.C. Wilder, Rev. Jesse Cook, and the W.F. Simmons family including Clyde and Annalee. Each of these have a story to tell and all have made contributions to the town in ways both big and small.

With a cast of 32 local actors, “Tales from the Tomb” is a fascinating walk through Magnolia Cemetery.
