Red Level (1-1, 0-1 1A Region 2) will play its first home game of the year and honor its seniors when Brantley (2-0, 1-0) pays a visit in a region contest on Friday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m.

This will be the 60th meeting between the two teams since they first played each other in 1949. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 45-14 against the Tigers.

“We have a tough opponent this week. Brantley is what they usually are and has a lot of athletes out there on the field. They can throw it and run it, but we look forward to the challenge,” Head Coach Kenny Skipper said. “For us, this week is about us getting better. It will certainly feel nice to be at home,” Head Coach Kenny Skipper said.

Last week, Red Level fell on the road at Kinston, 38-0. Brantley earned a 39-0 home shutout over Pleasant Home.

Skipper said last week’s outcome did not reflect the final score, and it was a much closer game than indicated.

“If you look at the score, it looks like it was really bad when it really wasn’t. At the end of the first quarter, it was 8-0 and our defense played extremely well. We could not get in a rhythm offensively and had some turnovers. The weather was poor, and we had some calls that did not go our way. They put us in a bad situation, and there was a 16-point swing at one point,” he said.

Skipper added that there were highlights in the setback, but the team encountered difficulties in other areas.

“We had a lot of good things, but our special teams unit had to deal with some bad snaps. Any time you play football, there is always something to improve on, which will be our mindset this week.”

The Bulldogs won the 2023 matchup over the Tigers, 54-13.

Senior football players, cheerleaders, and band members will be recognized at approximately 6:25 p.m.
