Opp (0-0) will return to Class 4A for the first time in 15 years and kick off the season with a first-time foe as Northview of Florida (1-0) comes to town on Friday, August 30, at 7 p.m.
Ed Rigby takes over the Bobcats in his 12th season as a head coach in Alabama with a 95-39 record in the state. It is Rigby’s 34th year overall in coaching. He succeeds former coach Matt Brunson who returned to Baker (Florida) after one season in Opp.
This game will be the first matchup between the two teams on the gridiron. Last week, the Chiefs began the season with a 26-7 win over Destin (Florida), an opponent the Bobcats will see at the midway point this year.
Opp finished the 2023 season with a 4-7 record and was fourth in Class 3A Region 2. Northview also went 4-7 a year ago.
