The Covington County 4-H Horse Club proudly represented our community at the Southern Regional 4-H Horse Championships in Perry, Georgia, earlier this month. This event spans 12 states and is a major competition for 4-H members focused on horse-related activities and education.
In May, Blakeleigh Lee secured first place in the Junior Division Barrels at the State Horse Show in Montgomery, while Charlie Nolen earned third place in the Arena Race. Their achievements qualified them for spots at the Southern Regional Championships. At Regionals, the competed against 111 barrel racers from several states, with Blakeleigh advancing to the final round and finishing 9th. Charlie placed in the top 25.
The Covington County 4-H Club representatives expressed their appreciation to the County Commissioners for their continued support and use of the Covington County Arena. The group also thanked the Andalusia Co-Op and Andalusia’s Tractor Supply for providing items for the members’ send-off buckets, which were filled with treats for both horse and rider.
Starting in September, 4-H Agents will begin in-school 4-H clubs for ages 9-18. For more information about 4-H Clubs, follow the group on Facebook at Covington County Alabama 4-H.
