The Covington County Sheriff’s Office’s Corrections Department and LBW Community College recently teamed up to help inmates of the county jail gain valuable job training.
Through the collaboration, six inmates attended a Basic Equipment Operators course. Those who completed the training received a certificate of completion that could enhance their employment prospects upon release.
Covington County Sheriff Blake Turman said the program is one of many initiatives aimed at assisting inmates with additional skills for a more successful life.
“We are committed to continuing this important work and expanding these opportunities in the future,” Turman said.
The sheriff said he appreciates the cooperation and partnership with LBW.
“I want to extend my gratitude and to recognize LBW Community College and Jenny Sanders for their invaluable support and partnership. Their dedication to providing educational opportunities to our inmates is greatly appreciated as is their commitment to making a positive impact on our community,” Turman said.
