The Libertyville Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Alabama Hwy. 55 across from the Dollar General on Thursday, July 4, at approximately 6:57 p.m.
The Andalusia Fire Department, Carolina Volunteer Fire Department, and Red Oak Volunteer Fire Departments also responded to the scene and rendered mutual aid to the LVFD.
Upon arrival at the scene, the AFD made entry and extinguished the fire, which saved the majority of the home and salvaged the home’s contents. Andalusia Fire Department returned to the city limits afterward.
Hot spots then began to flare in multiple places throughout the structure. Carolina units entered the home and pulled a portion of the ceiling down to extinguish the hot spots. Red Oak units assisted with ventilation fans and helped clear the home of smoke.
Once fire officials determined the home’s temperature was reasonable, they determined there were no remaining signs of hot spots. All units were back in operation at approximately 9:45 p.m.
