The Opp and Covington County Chamber of Commerce donated $1,005 to the Bethesda House organization this week.
Chamber officials said the donation was possible due to the community’s support of their Women in Business Luncheon and Purse Auction held May 4.
Business owners and community leaders gathered for the luncheon at the Opp Chamber Community Room, where they enjoyed an inspiring keynote speech from Dr. Terri Dunn, who is affiliated with the Alabama Community College System and plays a crucial role in leadership development and education.
The event featured an auction of over 50 donated purses, with more than 75 percent of them being sold.
“We are thankful for everyone who supported the Opp Chamber and Bethesda House. This organization is meeting a critical need in our area, and we are delighted to donate 100 percent of the proceeds to help Bethesda House continue their important work. Our Women in Business Luncheon was an uplifting event, bringing together many incredible female leaders to support a worthy cause,” said Joni Lolley, executive administrator of the Opp Chamber.
