The Andalusia High School Scholarship Foundation recently presented international study fellowships to Ada Short and Rosemary Bass.
The AHS graduates will complete four weeks of study at the University of Cambridge International Summer Programme in England. There, they will complete two courses of their choosing each week and have an opportunity to immerse themselves in European history and culture.
Bass is a University of Alabama senior studying elementary education, who plans to return to Andalusia to teach. She previously completed a study abroad program in Capetown, South Africa. She is the daughter of Tripp and Regina Bass.
Short is an Auburn University junior studying accountancy with plans to attend law school. She has completed internships with the Business Council of Alabama and in the 22nd Judicial Circuit of Alabama. She is the daughter of Lex and Susan Short.
To be considered for an international study fellowship, a student must have applied for the foundation’s academic scholarship during his or her senior year. The fellowship includes tuition, accommodations, travel and food and is valued at approximately $12,000 per student.
Over the past 31 years, the Foundation has awarded 34 college scholarships and 24 summer study abroad fellowships to Andalusia High School graduates.
