The Covington County Commission heard from Revenue Commissioner Chuck Patterson about overdue property taxes and approved five additional items at a regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

According to Patterson, the county has approximately $582,000 of unpaid real (home and land) property taxes.

“We are working on collecting the remaining property taxes. We will send out a notice on March 1 for those on the unpaid list and let that be a reminder to them we still need them to pay,” Patterson said.

The 2023 Covington County tax lien sale will be accessible online for the first time this year. Sale list advertising and registration will begin on April 22 at www.govease.com.
