Steven King announces his candidacy for Covington County Commissioner in District 2, bringing with him a lifetime of community ties and a diverse professional background.

Born and raised in Andalusia, Steven is the son of Tim and Shirley (Partridge) King. A 1987 graduate of Andalusia High School, he went on to earn his associate’s degree from Lurleen B. Wallace Community College. He continued his education at the University of Alabama, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree, as well as a private pilot’s license, in 1992.

King’s work ethic was evident from an early age with his first jobs at Andalusia Concrete and Walmart, and later, while attending LBWCC, he worked part-time at the Andalusia-Opp Airport. His career path took him into the heavy construction industry, where he was a part of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and played a role in constructing power plants for various companies. In 2004, he embarked on a longstanding career with PowerSouth Energy Cooperative.

Beyond his professional endeavors, King has a strong commitment to service and philanthropy. He is an active supporter of LBWCC, the University of Alabama, and Children’s Hospital, engaging in fundraising efforts and contributing to their success. His leadership extends to serving on numerous boards and committees including those of the University of Alabama, the Covington County GOP, the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association, State Executive Committee member of ALGOP, the Andalusia Chamber of Commerce, the Aviation Council of Alabama, and he is a proud NRA Endowment Life-Member.

King’s goal is to enhance the quality of life across Covington County through education and development, showcasing his unwavering commitment to the place he calls home.
