Gary Wayne Jones, age 73 of Andalusia, passed away Dec. 8, 2023, in the Opp Nursing Facility.

A Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date. Keahey Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 23 years, Terry Ann Jones of Andalusia; sons, Jeremiah Jones of Nashville, Tennessee; Matthew Jones of Texas and Joshua Jones of Nashville; brothers, Kenneth Jones (Jo) of Nashville; Ronnie Jones of Waverly, Tennessee; grandchild, Aryan Jones (Emma); great-grandchild, Delilah Jones; stepchildren, Deanna Hamm (Johnny); Zachary Parkin and Christopher Parkin (Lisa) all of Andalusia. He was preceded in death by his father, Hardy Bell Jones, sister, Betty Sue Jones, and stepson, Travis Dean Rice.

Gary Wayne was a native of Nashville and served in the Marine Corp. for five years. He was stationed in Japan during the Vietnam War and was one who gave the final “OK” that a plane was ready to fly; he also worked in the Blue Angels Planes. During his military time, he was introduced to President Ronald Reagan and thanked for his service.

Gary Wayne was a self-taught master woodworker. While in Nashville, he completely built log homes for some of the most prestigious homeowners in Tennessee. Two homes that he did log cabin workmanship belonged to Dolly Parton and George Jones. He and his brother made custom cabinets. He was also a talented guitarist and while working on the homes of Dolly Parton and George Jones, most musicians took time to sit down and do some “picking and grinning” with Gary Wayne. He will be greatly missed.
