Albert Kennon Barton passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sept. 17, 2023.

Al was born on August 3, 1930, in Straughn, Alabama. He was married to Christine Foshee Barton on Dec. 18, 1951 and they were married for 70 years.

Al was a graduate of Auburn University and an Army Veteran. During his career in the paper industry, he was a pioneer in the development of technology for adding coating to a board surface. Al was a member of the TAPPI organization and chaired several committees.

Al was passionate about sharing the word of God. He was a member of the Gideon International Organization which gave him the opportunity to share his testimony to many people and make sure they had a Bible to read. Al also enjoyed fishing, especially deep sea fishing, big band music, and the family farm.

He is survived by: his children, Albert Kennon Barton Jr. (Janet) of Bend, Oregon, Deborah Barton Bartholomew of Cypress, Texas, and Tina Barton Eppes of Cary, Illinois. Other survivors include his grandchildren: Trey Barton (Nikkie), Kelly Barton, Alyssa Gilmore (Josh), Colt Eppes (Madison), and Caroline Bartholomew; great-grandchildren, Colby Eppes, Clayton Gilmore, Dalton Eppes, Cooper Gilmore, and Skylar Barton.

His family wishes to express their appreciation to Enhabit Hospice and Right at Home in Cypress, Texas, for the excellent care and love.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, Oct. 21, 11:30 a.m., at Buck Creek Baptist Church, 28649 Jim Foshee Rd. in Red Level. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. at the church.
