Freida Price Armstrong, age 77, formerly of Andalusia, passed away in Foley, Alabama, on Saturday, June 10, 2023.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Myers Armstrong; her son, Todd of Dallas, Texas; her son, Scott of Auburn; her mother, Lucy Price Martin and her brother, Kevin Price both of Andalusia; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Price.
Freida was a 1964 graduate of Andalusia High School. She attended Auburn University before her marriage to Elmer Myers Armstrong on June 20, 1966, at which time she became an army officer’s wife. While the couple was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, she completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Education at Kansas State University.
Early in her career, Frieda taught school at Church Street Elementary School in Andalusia for a number of years before joining her husband to establish and run country convenience food stores throughout South Alabama.
After retiring in 1997, they built their dream home in Destin, Florida, where they lived prior to moving to Bandera, Texas. Freida’s restless spirit for travel led to a life of full-time RV living as they traveled the country up until the time of her death.
Freida was a dedicated wife, an outstanding teacher, and great businesswoman determined to excel in whatever she attempted to do.
A celebration of life visitation with family and friends will be held at the First Baptist Church youth building on Sunday, July 16, from 1 to 3 p.m.
