The south Alabama area, including Covington County, is at a marginal risk for the possibility of severe thunderstorms late Friday night into early Saturday morning, according to information provided by the Covington County Emergency Management Agency.

The potential for a line of thunderstorms with damaging winds and tornadoes is possible, primarily northwest of the I-65 corridor where the Storm Prediction Center presently has a slight risk for severe weather. A marginal risk exists along and southeast of the I-65 corridor.

Strong to severe thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and an isolated tornado are possible. The timeline calls for the weather to begin late Friday night and last into the early morning hours Saturday between 2 and 9 a.m. Covington County falls in the 6 to 9 a.m. timeslot.
