Jake “The Snake” Purvis Halford passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022, in a Pensacola hospital. He was 66.
A private memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Mona Morris Halford of McKenzie; daughters, Kacey Smith (Raymond) of Georgiana and Kristy Bates (Josh) of Evergreen; sons, Brandon Sellers of McKenzie, Josh Sellers (Jennifer) of Red Level, and Cameron Sellers (Tabitha) of McKenzie; Jake’s twin brother, Jack Halford of McKenzie and Lavon Halford (Kathy) of McKenzie; sisters, Debra Halford (Billy Joe) of McKenzie and Lillie Mae Collins of McKenzie; sisters-in-law, Lynn Bush and Mary Halford of Red Level; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clinton and Dorothy Morris of McKenzie; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Coston Halford and Ruby Joyner Halford; brothers, Billy Halford and Donald Halford; a sister, Rachel Wright; and son, Ryan Sellers.
Jake “The Snake” was a well-decorated veteran with the Army National Guard with the 781st Transportation Unit. He loved to hunt and fish. One of his favorite things was to sit on the porch, drink coffee and watch the hummingbirds. He had a great “green thumb” and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a faithful and loyal employee, having worked with the plywood mill in Chapman, Alabama for 47 years. He will be greatly missed.
