A group gathered on the Covington County Courthouse steps for a rally organized by Chaplain Ann Whisnant on Saturday, June 11.
According to organizers, the purpose of the rally was to stand in one accord with worship in song, fellowship, and prayer in three specific areas.
The opening prayer was led by Pastor Stacey Gaston of the West Highland Assembly of God. The first area of prayer was led by Pastor Tim Morgan of the Andalusia Bible Church; “for our Supreme Court Justices – protection, guidance, to stand firm in the power of His might, to not waiver, and for peace.”
The second was delivered by Pastor Pat Kelley of the First Assembly of God in Opp; “for women and children affected by their decision, for the local Sav-A-Life ministry, and for the Foster Care System.” The final prayer was delivered by Chaplain Jim Whisnant for; “us as Churches and us as individual Christians to do our part in being the hands and feet of Jesus in caring for the fatherless and the women in crisis.”
The Scripture passages were read by Chaplain Ann Whisnant, Pastor John A. Mize from FaithWay Missionary Baptist Church, Mattie Freeney from New Pilgrim Baptist Church, and Jan White from Southside Baptist Church, Andalusia. Worship in song was led by Judy Padgett and Pastor Pat Kelley.
