The Andalusia City Schools Board of Education met on Wednesday, June 8 when a number of personnel decisions were made in preparing for the upcoming school year.
The board handled several other items, including approving several food bids and discussed policy changes that will be considered at a future meeting.
The board also discussed proposed new signage for Andalusia Elementary School. The signs will be donated by the Parent-Teacher Organization and include digital screens. Before approving, the board asked to ensure proper placement of the signs through the Alabama Department of Transportation. One sign would be located at the front of the school and another on the backside. The item was tabled for the July meeting.
The board did approve adding a physical education teaching position at AES as well as adding a stipend for the school’s principal for a summer remediation program to assist kindergarten through third-grade students in reading and math.
