Florala High School has announced Kadance Elizabeth Jackson as the senior class of 2022 valedictorian and Lazorreya Sharae Coleman as the salutatorian.

Jackson is the daughter of Kennith and Jessica Jackson with a brother, Dalton Jackson. Coleman is the daughter of Author and Sharika Coleman with three siblings: Diamond Carswell, Janiya Goldsmith, and Javon Coleman.

“I’m honored to be able to represent my class,” Jackson said. “It means a lot to me to represent Florala High School’s senior class. I am proud to be a graduate of Florala High School and love the support from my school and classmates,” Coleman said.

Jackson plans to begin her college career close to home at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College. “I plan to get my Associate in Science and want to transfer to Troy University to finish my four-year degree.”

Coleman plans to attend Coastal Alabama Community College in Bay Minette. “I want to major in Nursing and chose this field because I’ve always wanted to help people. I also received a scholarship from the college and will be playing basketball for the Sun Chiefs. I am excited about this opportunity to continue playing a sport I really love while I focus on my academics.”

This year’s valedictorian and salutatorian were both grateful to attend Florala High School. They will always be Wildcats but are excited about their futures.

“I always enjoyed participating in clubs. I will miss talking to the students and staff. I’m looking forward to being able to do fun activities with my friends,” Jackson said.

“The most enjoyable part about high school was being a student-athlete. I will miss the teaching stuff and coaches at my high school. I am looking forward to seeing how many challenges I will overcome,” Coleman said.

Each senior has a plan for the years to come. “I hope to be having a stable career and living by myself,” Jackson said. “In the next five to 10 years, I see myself with a doctorate degree,” Coleman said.

Florala High School will hold the Class of 2022’s graduation ceremony Friday, May 27 at 6 p.m.
