Three county players named to ASWA’s All-State team

Three players within Covington County were recently selected to the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s Boys and Girls All-State Basketball Teams for the 2021-2022 season.
Following nominations from statewide coaches, members of the ASWA prep committee selected the team.
In Class 1A girls, Sharae Coleman was named to the Second Team as a senior guard from Florala. Sharae played in all 31 games for the Lady Wildcats this season. She averaged 22.1 points, 11.4 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 4.5 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game.
In Class 1A boys, Rayshon Coleman was named to the Third Team as a freshman guard from Florala High School. Rayshon played in all 28 games for the Wildcats this season. He averaged 18.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.2 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game.
In Class 3A girls, Vanessa Stoudemire was named as one of four Honorable Mention athletes as a junior guard from Opp High School. Vanessa played in 15 games for the Lady Bobcats this season. She averaged 17.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 3.2 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game.
Florala’s girls ended the season in the Southeast Regional semi-finals with a 24-7 overall record and were the 1A Area 2 champions. Florala’s boys ended the season in the Southeast Sub-Regional round and were the 1A Area 2 runner-up finishing with a 15-13 record.
Opp’s girls ended the season as the 3A Area 4 runner-up and went 8-12 overall finishing in the 3A Southeast Sub-regional round.
