AHS baseball beats Brantley, splits against Zion Chapel

In early season action, the Andalusia Bulldogs defeated Brantley 10-2 while splitting with Zion Chapel — winning the first game 4-3 and losing the second, 4-0.
Last Thursday against Brantley, Andalusia’s Brent Shiver picked up the win for the Bulldogs (2-1), pitching four innings, giving up two hits and striking out five.
Andrew Veasey relieved Shiver at the mound and pitched the final three innings, giving up four hits and two runs.
The leading hitters for Andalusia were Shiver, Chris Kelley, Shane Culbreth, Robert Woodall and Dillon Manring.
Kelley had one home run, one double and four RBIs; Woodall had one single, one double and two RBIs; and Manring had two singles and two RBIs.
In the first game against Zion Chapel on Saturday, Andalusia’s Veasey picked up the win, throwing five innings, giving up four hits and three runs — two earned.
Shiver relieved Veasey and got the save.
Andalusia’s Corey Morris, Shiver and Kelley had two hits apiece.
In the second game, Shiver took the loss, giving up five hits and three runs — one earned.
