The J.R. Simplot Company will increase its services to growers in southern Alabama and the Florida Panhandle by building a new location in Opp.
Simplot Grower Solutions is a grower-focused retailer offering proactive services, agronomy expertise, and a full range of products and technologies to farmers. The family-owned organization is growing its position as a dynamic agribusiness leader with new stores in the Southeast that complement existing locations that span the continental U.S. These retail outlets offer a full suite of exclusive products, cutting-edge technology, and top-notch services for farmers.
“The growers in the Opp area will be fantastic partners and we’re thrilled to bring our offerings to help them meet their goals,” said Jamie Scanlon, Head of Customer Experience for Simplot Growers Solutions. “This location will increase our ability to provide growers the timely products and services they need to drive value across their farming operations.”
The new location will be in the Opp Industrial Park on the Florala Highway and will feature a full range of field-proven inputs to include Seed, Crop Nutrition, and Crop Protection. Their local agronomy experts go above and beyond to deliver field-proven solutions for any farming challenge.
“When we heard that Simplot wanted to expand, we immediately went to work to find them a place that fit,” said Opp Mayor Becky Bracke. “The Opp Industrial Park was the perfect match and with the help and cooperation of the Opp Utility Board, we made it happen. We are so glad that Simplot sees the future of our region like we do and are investing in our community.”
Rick Clifton, President and CEO of the Covington County Economic Development Commission was impressed with the process. “It is very encouraging when an existing industry and a community work together for the benefit of both,” he said. “Most jobs and economic growth come from expansions like this. Not only are we keeping the employees we have, but we will be adding more and the company is making a significant investment and commitment to the community. It is truly a win-win!”
