The gates of Heaven opened today for Kimberly Dawn Ryland Patterson of Wetumpka, Alabama. Kim, as she was known to family and friends, was born in Pensacola, Florida to Gwendolyn Pauline Ryland and Larry Wade Ryland on May 29, 1979.
Kim graduated in 1997 from Andalusia High School in Andalusia, Alabama. She spent ten years as a member of Arlene Nettles School of Dance. She was also a member of the Andalusia High School Band and played the trumpet. She graduated from Lurleen B. Wallace Junior College and was memberof the LBW Ensemble for two years. Then she was accepted and toured the southeast United States with the Southwind Drum and Bugle Corp. After that summer, she attended Auburn University and served two years in the Auburn University Marching Band.
While at LBWCC she became a licensed Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and served as a volunteer with the Andalusia Rescue Squad. After leaving Auburn she continued to work in the medical field as an employee of Haynes Ambulance Service in Montgomery. Kim finished her career by working for a medical billing company up until three weeks before she passed. Kim was a very brave and strong willed person that could achieve anything she set her mind to.
Kim did not have children but loved her dogs and cats. She leaves behind her parents, Gwen and Larry Ryland, sister Leslie Amanda Ryland Vaughn (Russell), brother Cory David Ryland, (Amy) and nephews, Joseph Paul and William Raines Vaughn, and Cameron Avery and Logan Henry Ryland.
