Baldwin County native Lawren Hendrix said she loves doing what she does and that is exactly why she opened Blush Beauty Bar here in Andalusia.
Stay at home life, Hendrix said, is not what she was intended for. After graduating from cosmetology school at Macarthur, Hendrix started working at Magnolia Jane in Andalusia.
“I am very thankful for my start there,” Hendrix said. “I really fell in love with doing nails there and I don’t miss doing hair at all. Since I have a huge, wonderful clientele, I felt like there was not enough ‘me’ to go around. I wanted to do something for myself and this is it.”
The best part of her job is her clients, Hendrix said.
“New clients, existing clients, they are all so loyal,” Hendrix said. “The support of a small town is everything. I get to talk to new people and be involved in my clients’ lives. It is more than clientele, it is friendship.”
Hendrix said owning a storefront is surreal.
“Everybody has big dreams for themselves, but I never thought that I would be a salon owner,” Hendrix said.
One year ago, to the date, Hendrix’s mother passed away. Though it is a painful memory, Hendrix said she is happy to share the date.
“It really is amazing that I opened this day,” Hendrix said. “She just wouldn’t want me to be sad all day long. Not that I’m closing that sad chapter, I just want to keep positive vibes in my life. I’m just starting this year off on a new, happy foot.”
With this new opportunity, Hendrix is looking forward to growing the most.
“I’m excited to meet new people, having more clientele and having ladies in to work for me,” Hendrix said. “Hopefully one day we will have a bigger space and have many, many chairs so we can take care of everybody’s needs.”
Blush Beauty Bar will offer different types of manicures, three different types of luxury pedicures, dip services, gel manicures and traditional manicures, little lady services, which are for younger girls and facial waxing.
The hours for Blush Beauty Bar are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m., until 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m., until 3 p.m.
It is located on East Three Notch Street in the strip mall beside Church’s.
