Even though the COVID-19 pandemic ravaged several cities in the nation, Florala Mayor Terry Holley said he is fortunate for 2020.
“2020 was a really good year for us, even with COVID-19,” Holley said. “We were able to go out and do our mission and that’s what is important. We were still able to function and do some things. Of course, you know, there were times where we couldn’t do things, but we would make it up the difference somewhere else. We really feel fortunate through 2020.”
Holley said he hopes for the best through 2021 while the city eyes several different projects.
“We’ve got some things that we are working on, especially through the ACE program,” Holley said. “We hope to accomplish some of those requirements throughout 2021. Overall, we feel very good about 2021 and we are looking forward to it.”
Though COVID-19 came out of surprise in March of this year, Holley said he feels prepared to deal with whatever may come in the next year.
“Of course, we never know what is going to happen to us,” Holley said. “It is going to be a challenge for us, but it is beautiful right now. We are still working on businesses coming to town and we are looking forward to next year.”
