Isaac Church passed on Monday, November 9, 2020, at his home on Auburn Avenue in Andalusia, Alabama.

Born February 7, 1941 in Andalusia, Mr. Church went away to attend college at Alabama A&M. University where he earned his bachelor’s degree majoring in Biology. He continued his education by earning a master’s of science degree in education from Troy State University.   

He accepted a position with Ozark City Schools where he taught Biology at Ozark Middle School for 25 years.  After retiring from Ozark Middle School, he became the coordinator of the After-School Program at Church Street School in Andalusia, Alabama. Mr. Church was a member of the New Pilgrim Baptist Church, and was an active member in the community.

He dedicated many years of his life nurturing, developing and guiding young students to continue their education in higher learning.  He also spent his summers as a Biology Instructor, Photography Instructor and Residential Life Coordinator for the Upward Bound Program at Lurleen B. Wallace State Junior College in Andalusia, Alabama.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his niece-daughter, Shekiah Flowers Stinson (Narvaez) of Atlanta, GA; grandson, N. LaBrauns Stinson II of Atlanta, GA; his two sisters, Catherine Church Brown (Pete) of Middletown, OH, Louise Church Clancy of Andalusia, AL and sisters-in-law, Nortence Church of Franklin, OH;  and sister-in- love, Lynda Lewis Flowers of Rockville, MD;  brother-in-law, Arthur Benjamin “Ben” Flowers of Andalusia, AL;  cousins/siblings,  Elizabeth Cowan McNeal and John Cowan (Pam) both of Hemingway, SC; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends.  He also leaves special goddaughters, Victoria and Amber Anderson of Andalusia, AL; special cousin, Catha Church Beaman of Andalusia, AL and devoted caregivers, Dorothy Hamilton of Atlanta, Ga, Patricia Ambroise of Jonesboro, GA and Derrick Washington of Atlanta, Ga. who provided exceptional care during recent years.

Home-going service for Isaac Church will be held Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at 12p.m. at the River Falls Cemetery, Covington County, River Falls, Alabama 36476. Family visitation is Sunday at Kirk’s Funeral Chapel, 501 Martin L. King Jr. Expressway, Andalusia, AL 36420, between the hours, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.

LARRY F. MULLEN

Mr. Larry F. Mullen, 74, of Andalusia, passed away Friday November 6, 2020.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM Tuesday November 10th at Southside Baptist Church with Brother Gary Miller officiating and Foreman Funeral Home directing.  Visitation will begin at 1 PM Tuesday at Southside Baptist Church.  Interment will follow services at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gail Mullen; one son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Christina Mullen; one daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Billy Doster; his grandchildren, Drew Doster, Hayden McLeod, Josh Doster, Megan Williamson; two great grandchildren, Natalie McLeod and Sawyer Williamson; his brother, Terry Mullen and wife Robbie of Madrid, AL and sister and brother-in-law, Gayle and Dannie Hughes of Andalusia.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank “Beetsey” Mullen and Lucille Chavers Mullen; a sister, Brenda Park and brother, Tim Mullen.

RICHARD D. WHEELER

Mr. Richard D. Wheeler, Sr. of 71, of Gantt, passed away Tuesday November 3, 2020 in Pensacola, FL.

Graveside services will be at 2 PM Thursday November 12th at Heath Cemetery with Minister Terry Stewart officiating and Foreman Funeral Home directing.  Visitation will begin at 12:30 pm Thursday at Foreman Funeral Home.

He is survived by his son, Richard D. Wheeler, Jr.; one daughter, Lisa Wheeler; and the mother of his children, Sharon L. Wheeler of Niagara Falls, NY; five grandchildren, Richard D. (Chasity) Wheeler, III, Johnathon Leone, Jennifer Neely, Kenneth (Ashley) Burns, Amber (Taran) Arcara; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Merle Phillips, Pearl Wheeler both of Andalusia; two brothers, Edmon J. Wheeler of Milton, FL and Rayford Wheeler of Dothan, AL.

Pallbearers will be Blake Worley, Brant Worley, Todd Godwin, Robert Phillips, Andrew Oliver, Kenny Wheeler.

AMMA LILLIS DRINKARD JORDAN

Amma Lillis Drinkard Jordan, age 92, of Mansfield, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on November 3, 2020. She was surrounded by her loving husband and son at the time of her passing.

She was laid to rest at Magnolia Cemetery in Andalusia, Alabama on November 11, 2020 during a small graveside service attended by immediate family members.  The service is scheduled to begin at 10 AM.

Amma was born in Pike County to Lorene Gibbons Drinkard and William Emory Drinkard on June 24, 1928.    She attended Goshen High School, graduating in 1945 as the Valedictorian of her class.  She married Milton Ray (Sam) Jordan on June 24, 1955 in Miami, Florida.  Their journey together took them on an exciting adventure as they moved throughout the country following his career as a Civil Engineer.   They resided in Montgomery, Alabama; New Orleans, Louisiana (twice); Houston, Texas (twice); Birmingham, Alabama; Whittier and Orange, California; Boise, Idaho; Richmond, Virginia and finally Austin, Texas before finally retiring in Montgomery, Texas. Even then, they moved on to Willis, Texas and Mobile, Alabama before finally settling in Mansfield, Texas near their son and daughter-in-law for the last dozen years of her life.

Amma worked steadily before their marriage and throughout the 1950s and 1960s as a legal secretary before giving up her career in 1968 to raise her son.   She was an avid reader, painter and gardener who created beautiful spaces both inside and outside  each one of her homes.

Amma is preceded in death by her parents, Lorene Gibbons Drinkard and William Emory Drinkard.

Amma is survived by her husband, Milton Ray (Sam) Jordan of Mansfield, Texas; son, Paul André (Andy) Jordan, of Mansfield, Texas;  daughter-in-law, Stacy Ranstrom Jordan, of Mansfield, Texas; sister, Ada Drinkard Vines, of Montgomery, Alabama; and brothers Charles Marion Drinkard, of Mobile, Alabama; James Colley Drinkard, of Mobile, Alabama and Lamar Gibbons Drinkard of China Grove, Alabama.

WYLENE LILES ELLIS

Mrs. Wylene Liles Ellis, 85, of Red Level, passed away Tuesday November 10, 2020 at her residence.

Graveside services will be at 2 PM Friday November 13th at Fairmount Baptist Church Cemetery with Brother John Bell officiating the service.  Visitation will be at the church from 1-2 PM Friday.   

She is survived by her husband, John G. Ellis of Red Level; sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Debbie Liles of Red Level, Terry and Tammy Liles of Jefferson, GA, Chris Liles of Panama City Beach, FL; step son, Stan Ellis of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Wesley and Torrie Liles of Hattiesburg, MS, Brandon Liles of Jefferson, GA, Savannah and Shane Betterton of Dothan, AL; great granddaughter, Aubrey Grace Liles and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Aubrey Liles.

CHARLES “SKIP” BETHEA CATON JR.

Mr. Charles “Skip” Bethea Caton, Jr., of Montgomery, AL went to be with our Lord in heaven on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020. He was born in Andalusia, AL, on Dec. 14, 1938 to the late Carolyn Brunson and Charles “Fay” Bethea Caton, Sr.

He was a University of Alabama graduate in journalism. He was a news director/ anchor and also produced film documentaries, television commercials and ads for political campaigns for his business, Charles Caton Films; also film production for the Alabama Farmers’ Federation and at AUTV at Maxwell AFB. He was a National Free Flight Champion, duck hunter and great fisherman. He adored his family, especially his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his Labrador retrievers. Our father had a fantastic life.

He was married to his high school sweetheart, the late Phyllis Rawls Caton of Andalusia, AL.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Brunson Caton and his son, Charles Bethea Caton, III (Kathy) both of Montgomery, AL; grandchildren, Beverly Cook Giuliani of Franklin, TN, Dani Caton of Savannah, GA and Alex Caton of Gulfport, MS ; great-grandchildren, Anthony Giuliani IV, Karsyn Penrod and Beau Penrod. He is preceded in death by his beloved brother, Christopher Seale Caton, Sr. of Andalusia, AL.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM Monday, Nov. 16, 2020 at Foreman-Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation begins at 12:00 noon with a graveside service following at Andalusia Memorial Cemetary.

JIMMY COXWELL

Mr. Jimmy Coxwell, age 80 of Red Level, passed away Friday October 9, 2020.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM Sunday October 11th at Foreman Funeral Home with Russell Rigdon and Brother Tyler Ingram officiating and burial will follow at Cedar Grove Church of Christ Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 1 PM Sunday at Foreman Funeral Home.

He is survived by his two daughters and son-in-law, Sandy and Larry Skipper and Susan Rigdon of Red Level; his grandchildren, Heather (Jed) Blackwell, Lauren (Clif) Green, Kenny (Emily) Skipper, Kyle (Erica) Skipper, Russell (Loran) Rigdon; great grandchildren, Kade Green, Bailey Green, Brock Skipper, Connor Blackwell, Caroline Blackwell, Madelyn Skipper, Emma Rigdon, Landry Rigdon, Bray Skipper, Haisley Green; sister and brother-in-law, Flora (Otis) Whiddon of Red Level, sisters-in-law, Hazel (B. J.) McClain of Andalusia, Faye (Henry) Greenhill of Prattville; Ginger Goodman of Opelika and Brenda Goodman of Andalusia, along with several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Goodman Coxwell who passed away September 24, 2020, parents R.V and Jack Coxwell, brother Johnnie Coxwell and sister Christine Shaffer.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Skipper, Kyle Skipper, Russell Rigdon, Clif Green, Jed Blackwell, Randy Coxwell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kade Green, Brock Skipper, Connor Blackwell, Bray Skipper, Landry Rigdon, Demond Nolen and The Red Level Volunteer Fire Department.
