Pleasant Home defeats Red Level, 18-0

The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles improved to 2-0 on the young season with a 18-0 victory over Red Level in four innings Thursday evening.
Pleasant Home had 16 hits while pitchers Gina Davis and Brentin Fuller combined to keep the Lady Tigers hitless. The Lady Eagles broke the game open in the third inning, sending 16 batters to the plate on the way to scoring 13 runs.
“We finally started to hit in the third inning,” Pleasant Home coach Jimmy Reeves said. “We ran the bases well and we got good pitching from both Gina and Brentin.”
Davis also stood out at the plate, finishing 2-for-3 with five RBIs and two runs scored. Robin Weaver was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs; Kathryn Dozier was 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI; and Megan Cook was 4-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs. Katy Brookshire scored three runs.
Every player in the Pleasant Home line-up scored at least once. Courtney Douglas took the loss for Red Level.
Pleasant Home also won the junior varsity game, 5-4.

The Lady Eagles opened their season with a 15-1 win over Florala Monday. Davis picked up the win.
Emily Byrd and Weaver both had three hits and scored three runs.
In the JV game, Ashley Copeland picked up the win, working 3.0 innings and allowing no runs. Abigail Kelley and Kendra Bryan each scored three runs.
PHS junior varsity 4, Andalusia 1
PHS junior varsity 4, Andalusia 2
Pleasant Home’s junior varsity swept Andalusia’s junior varsity Tuesday, winning the first game 4-1 and the second game 4-2.
In the first game, Raven Woods, Copeland and Mary Schwartz each had two hits. Kelley hit a home run. Emily Byrd picked up the win, striking out seven in 5.0 innings.
In the second game, Byrd hit a home run to pace the Lady Eagles. Schwartz was the winning pitcher and Copeland picked up a two-inning save.
