ARNIE C. COBB

Mr. Arnie C. Cobb, 85 years old, received his wings Sunday, Oct. 18, 2020.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mrs. Hazel Cobb; son, Arnie Cobb II, and his wife, Tavie Cobb; son, Dr. Shannon Cobb and his wife, Jo Cobb; and his loving grandchildren, Catie Cobb, Ty Cobb, Zoe Cobb, Amanda Jo Spivey, Justin Waldie.

Services will be held at Foreman Funeral Home with visitation at 10 a.m. and funeral services at 11 a.m. Graveside services to follow.

BRIAN CHANCE

Mr. Brian Chance of Andalusia passed away October 18, 2020, he was 60.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.

BONNIE JUNE BAGGETT LAMBERT

Mrs. Bonnie June Baggett Lambert, age 89, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at her home in Huxford, AL.

Mrs. Lambert was a native and resident of Escambia County, AL. She was a former seamstress for Vanity Fair Mills and owner of a produce stand for many years.

Mrs. Lambert is preceded in death by her husband, Henry P. Lambert; her parents, William Joseph Baggett and Rubie Olean Durant Baggett; and a stepson, Leroy Lambert.

Survivors include: two sons, William Lambert and wife, Mary Jane of Mexia, AL and Grayson Lambert and wife, Wendy of Huxford, AL; three daughters, Doris Woodruff of Longview, TX, Bonnie Beck and husband, Pete of Letohatchee, AL and Judy Lambert of Pensacola, FL; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 16, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Buddy Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Frisco City, AL. Visitation will be Friday, October 16, 2020 from 1:00 P.M. until funeral time at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home.

MARY FRANCES TAYLOR

Frances was born on April 24, 1923, the only child of Howard C. and Mildred Shreve Ward.  She passed away October 18, 2020 at the age of 97.

Graveside services will be at 2 PM Tuesday October 20, 2020 in Magnolia Cemetery, with Brother William Worley conducting the service.  Foreman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Things that were important to Frances:  always being dressed to a “T”, beautiful yards and garden clubs, holiday decorations; especially Christmas and Halloween on the “Court”, Football, especially Auburn football; First Baptist Church of Andalusia, History, DAR, finding long lost family names and graves, Parades; Concerts; LBW Arts Council programs; Animals, especially dogs, but also cats, rabbits, hamsters and birds, even snakes and alligators as her sons found them. Holiday Hill- three generations of kids will remember swimming at the “lake”, Fishing- but always from the dock, Travel-  she loved to go places and did:  Europe, China, India, Canada, and all over the USA

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Howard C. and Mildred Shreve Ward; her husband, Luther S. Taylor, Jr.; and son, Chris Taylor and an infant son.

She is survived by her son, Ward S. Taylor (Sue) of Andalusia; four grandchildren, Heather (David) Kirby of Gainsville, VA, Lance (Monica) Taylor of Andalusia, Forrest Taylor of Pasadena, MD, Kalisch Taylor of Fort Walton Beach, FL; eight great grandchildren, Colin Taylor, Cooper Taylor, Mason Taylor, Kailyn Pruitt, Kansas Infantino, Kinley Infantino, James Kirby and Andrew Kirby.

ROSA NELL WALKER

Mrs. Rosa Nell Walker, age 82 of Andalusia, passed away on Thursday, October 15th, 2020 in Andalusia Manor. Funeral services will be held at 2PM on Sunday, October 18th, 2020 at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Wilburn and William Worley officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Walker is survived by her daughters, Beth Maddox (Brent) of Andalusia, Lynn Starnes (Van) of Andalusia; her grandchildren, Hannah Rabren (Stephen) of Andalusia, Warren Maddox (Elizabeth) of Andalusia, Marion Starnes of Andalusia, Maecy Starnes of Andalusia; great-grandchildren, Bennett and Clara Rabren, Mason and Parker Maddox; and her brother and sister-in-law, Hinton and Linda Wiggins of Andalusia.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Walker, her sisters, Ocie Owens, Dorothy Carter, Betty Pollock, and her brothers, Buster Wiggins, Lamar Wiggins, and Barney Wiggins.

Pallbearers will be Kip Wiggins, Wade Wiggins, Warren Maddox, Stephen Rabren, Joshua Wiggins, and Mike Pollock.

GERALD GLEN

KIMBRO

Mr. Gerald Glen Kimbro, age 71 of Dozer, Al. died on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 in a Pensacola, Fl. Hospital.  Glen, as he was known by, was born in Covington County on April 29, 1949.  He grew up in Dozier and attended and graduated from the Dozier High School. After graduation he worked at Dorsey Trailers for several years.  Glen then decided that he wanted to pursue a career in law enforcement and enrolled into the police academy. After graduation he went to work for the Brantley Police Department and spent 5 years in Brantley. He then joined the Dozier Police Department and worked for the department for 29 years, many of those years as chief.  Glen later went to work for the Covington County Sheriff’s Department and worked for them for 10 years until his retirement in 2019.  Glen loved watching westerns on television, especially Gunsmoke.  He also loved fishing and squirrel hunting.

Funeral services for Mr. Kimbro will be held on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 2pm from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel.  Reverend Walter Brewer will officiate. Interment will be in the Dozier Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be after 1PM Friday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years Mrs. Hazel Kimbro; two daughters and sons in law, Paula and Matthew King of Calera, Al. and Angie and Jesse Dauphin of N. Augusta, Ga.; three grandchildren, Heather Ray Everhart, Logan Dauphin and Liberty Dauphin; three sisters, Joan Stinson (J.D.), Sue Anne Kimbro and Myra Kimbro, all of Wilsonville, Al.; two brothers, Ray Kimbro( Nanette) of Live Oak, Fl., Edward Kimbro (Debra) of Greenville, Al.  Mr. Kimbro was preceded in death by a grandson, Winston Blake Dauphin.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be members of the Covington County Sheriff’s Department.

BEN CROWELL

Mr. Ben Crowell, 71, of Andalusia, passed away Sunday October 11, 2020 in Montgomery, AL.

Mr. Crowell was born in Luverne and moved to Andalusia at an early age.  He graduated from AHS and entered the U.S. Navy where he did two back to back tours of duty in Vietnam.  He was a highly decorated US Navy Corpsman and also a combat medic. After he left the Navy Mr. Crowell returned to Alabama and attended Troy State University where he received a teaching degree. After teaching for a while Mr. Crowell then went to work for Coca-Cola as an advance salesman.  He worked for Coke for 17 years and then went to Work for Winn-Dixie as an assistant manager.  He worked for Winn-Dixie for 35 years until his retirement.  Ben loved to bowl and was a very active Mason and Shriner. He was a member of the Stokes Lodge # 609 and the Gantt Lodge #589  He was a member of Lindsey Bridge Baptist Church for the last 10 years.  Ben had a big heart, never met a stranger and was loved and respected by all who came his way

Funeral services will be 11 AM Thursday October 15th from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Frankie McVay officiating the service.  Interment will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:30 – 8 PM Wednesday at Foreman Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Crowell of Andalusia; three sons, Tommy (Lisha) Lawson of Andalusia, Ben (Ligaya) Crowell of Lexington, Ky., and Blake (Vivian) Crowell of Boston, M.; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; and a brother Bryant (Rochelle) Crowell of Jay, Fla.

Mr. Crowell was preceded in death by a son, Dewayne “Koot” Lawson, and two grandchildren, Tyler Lawson and Teresa Crowell.

“TURTLE” JOHNSON

Christopher “Turtle” Johnson, of Andalusia (Dixie community), went to Heaven Friday morning, October 16, 2020, after a stoic health battle with having a brain tumor. He was 4 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel. Brother Woody Jackson will officiate. A special eulogy will be given by Kymberly Keahey. Burial will follow at the Hughes’ Family Private Cemetery in the Dixie Community. Serving as pallbearers will be Covington County Sheriff Blake Turman, Covington County Sheriff Deputy Nic Ireland, uncles, Kevin Hildreth, and Tyler Jackson.

Left to cherish his precious memories, parents, John and Patricia Johnson; brother, Hunter Johnson and sister, Maliyah Johnson, all of the Dixie Community; grandparents, Sandy Willis and Chris Jackson (Charla); great grandparents, Jackie and Carolyn Hughes; aunts, Angel Hildreth, Brittany, and Madilyn Willis; uncles, Tyler Jackson and Kevin Hildreth and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by grandmother, Tammy Michelle White, and great grandmother, Frances Hildreth.

Little Christopher “Turtle” was diagnosed with the brain tumor in April of this year; he attended the Pre-K Class at the Andalusia Board of Education; he greatly loved his teachers, Candi Wiggins and Kim Turman. The family wants to thank all the many people locally and people from far away who did many acts of kindness for the family.

They want to especially thank Covington County Sheriff Deputy, Nic Ireland for his fundraising and tireless acts of love toward Little Christopher and the family.
