The South Alabama Arrows took the championship this weekend going undefeated in tournament play.

First game:

Arrows – 8

Troy Warriors – 3

The Arrows took home an 8-3 victory over the Troy Warriors 9U on Saturday.

The Warriors opened up scoring in the first inning.

The Arrows pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second, John Tyler Jackson singled on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs and Farley Brannon grounded out, scoring one run.

South Alabama Arrows 9U notched five runs in the third inning. Houston Weant, Brock Bennett, Jackson Grimes, and Zay L. all drove in runs in the frame.

Johnathon led things off on the mound for the Arrows.

Cooper Maynor went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead the Arrows in hits. South Alabama was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error.

Farley had the most chances in the field with six. South Alabama tore up the base paths, as five players stole at least two bases. Jackson led the way with four.

Second Game:

Arrows – 10

Alabama Expo – 0

The Arrows shutout Alabama Expo 10-0 on Saturday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Farley Brannon induced a groundout to finish off the game.

South Alabama Arrows 9U put up five runs in the third inning. Row Thorn, Houston Weant, Brock Bennett, and Jackson Grimes powered the big inning with RBIs.

Row toed the rubber for South Alabama. He surrendered zero runs on one hit over two and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking one.

South Alabama saw the ball well Saturday, racking up eight hits in the game. Cooper Maynor and Farley Brannon all managed multiple hits for the Arrows Farley and Cooper each managed two hits to lead South Alabama. The Arrows didn’t commit a single error in the field. Houston Weant had the most chances in the field with six. The Arrows tore up the base paths, as four players stole at least two bases. Brock Bennett led the way with five.

Third game:

Arrows – 13

Aces – 3

The Arrows jumped out to an early lead over Aces and took home a 13-3 victory on Sunday.

The Arrows scored on a double by Row Thorn and a double by Houston Weant in the first inning.

After Aces scored one run in the top of the fourth, the Arrows answered with one of their own. Aces scored when Reid doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. South Alabama then answered when Jackson Grimes singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.

South Alabama scored six runs in the third inning. Jackson Grimes, Farley Brannon, Row Thorn, Houston Weant, and Brock Bennett all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Houston Weant was on the pitcher’s mound for South Alabama. He went four innings, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out six.

The Arrows totaled 13 hits in the game. Farley Brannon, Jackson Grimes, Cooper Maynor, Houston Weant, and Kaleb Covin each collected multiple hits for the Arrows. Farley Brannon led South Alabama with three hits in three at-bats. Kaleb Covin led South Alabama with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with nine stolen bases. The Arrows were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Row Thorn had the most chances in the field with six.

Championship game:

Avengers – 1

South Alabama sealed the deal when they put up eight runs in the third on its way to an 11-1 victory over Avengers on Sunday.

The offensive onslaught came from singles by Cooper Maynor, Row Thorn, Brock Bennett, and Kaleb Covin, walks by Farley Brannon and Johnathon, and a double by Johnathon.

South Alabama opened up scoring in the first inning, when Cooper singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

South Alabama scored eight runs in the third inning. Johnathon, Farley Brannon, Cooper Maynor, Row Thorn, Brock Bennett, and Kaleb Covin all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
