Lurleen B. Wallace Community College (LBWCC) has received notice that an employee has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently quarantined and receiving medical treatment in accordance with public health protocols.
“Out of an abundance of caution, and in our efforts to stem the spread of the virus, we are working to notify employees and students who have come into contact with the individual,” Marketing director Maggie Jones said. “We also have taken the additional step of closing specific campus buildings while they are professionally cleaned and disinfected. Our priority is to keep our students and employees safe and healthy.”
LBWCC is following medical protocols from state and national health authorities and has implemented recommended guidelines in relation to social distancing, hygiene, travel, cleaning, and visits to the College.
“If we become aware of any additional cases, we will make our best effort to notify affected individuals so that they may take recommended health measures,” Jones said. “The College is committed to keeping you updated on local COVID-19 risks and will provide our staff, students, and local communities with additional instruction and information as appropriate.”
