With people now able to get a haircut, Wiggins Barbershop was busy bright and early at 6 a.m., yesterday to cut hair.

Owner Robin Veasey said she was busy all day with clients being able to come back into the shop.

“We have been booked all day,” Veasey said. “This morning, I got here at about 7:30 a.m., and there were already about 10 people waiting. My phone has been ringing since last Friday when Governor Ivey made it possible for people to get haircuts.”

Since March, Veasey has closed had her doors closed to the public because of COVID-19.

“I wouldn’t say that I was worried about it,” Veasey said. “I was just ready to get back to work. I did enjoy a little bit of the time off, but yes, I was ready to get back to work. I mean people need haircuts.”

Though there wasn’t much time to prepare for the amount of people coming into the shop, Veasey said they were well prepared for the opening.

“Since we had people calling since Friday, we knew that we were going to be busy,” Veasey said. “We are making people wait outside and sign in before they get a haircut. If they feel sick or have been feeling sick then they can’t come in. We also have hand sanitizer by the door for people coming in. Between every haircut, we make sure to sanitize everything to make sure that we aren’t contaminating the next client.”
