Six area high school seniors have been chosen by the Old Three Notch Chapter of DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) to be DAR GoodCitizens for the 2019-2020 school year.
The DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. This award recognizes and rewards individuals who possess good citizenship qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism in their homes, schools and communities. These students are selected by their teachers and faculty because they demonstrate these qualities to an outstanding degree.
The seniors chosen this year are: Patrick McCorvey from Andalusia High School, Lily McDaniel from Florala High School, Garyn Blair from Opp
High School, John Grant Barton from Pleasant Home High School, Taylor Fowler from Red Level High School, and Madeline Pugh from Straughn
High School. These students contributed essays to the Good Citizen Essay contest. The winner from our area was Lily McDaniel, from Florala.
Each student will receive a scholarship check from Old Three Notch DAR.
