Routine eye care and dental work at Ensight Eye Care and Andalusia Dental Group will resume May 4.

“The State of Alabama along with the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have determined that it is now safe to resume normal eye care operations,” Owner Dr. James Barton said. “We are working hard to keep you safe. To help accomplish this, a few changes will be coming to our clinic operations.”

Barton said his employees will have their temperatures checked every day before work, only one patient can come into the office, unless the patient is a minor or someone who needs assistance, they will limit the number of people in their waiting room and optical to accommodate social distancing, employees will be wearing masks and he asks patients to bring one and wear it too, if they have one and all optical services (glasses dispensing, repair, etc.) will require an appointment.

Dentists at ADG said they are opening their office, as well, with changes.

“We are happy to inform you that our office will reopen on Mon., May 4,” they said. “We will resume normal dentistry treatment at this time. Although we have not been cleared to open by the Alabama Dental Board, it will not be business as usual. We will be making lots of changes in order to protect you and our employees.”

The following changes will go into effect at ADG:

The waiting area will be closed. When a patient arrives for their appointment, please give ADG a call or text and a staff member will come to the person’s vehicle. They will perform a COVID-19 screening that includes a questionnaire and temperature check. The patient will then be escorted in one by one to their prepared treatment room.

Only the patient with an appointment will be allowed to enter the building. Minors will be allowed to have one parent/guardian in the treatment room with them or the parent/guardian may wait in their vehicle during the appointment.

Patients will be asked to use hand sanitizer upon their arrival to the office. Staff will also provide an oral rinse before treatment begins.

If patients have a mask, they are asked to wear it until they reach their treatment room.

“We are excited to see you and we have your health as our top priority,” they said. “You will notice that we will be wearing additional PPE (masks, face shields and jackets or gowns,) this is for your protection and the protection of our employees.”
