Several cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Covington County, bringing the total to 9.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, there have been 87 total tested for COVID-19 in Covington County.

In the state, there are 2,328 confirmed cases, with 18,982 total tested.

Reported deaths in the state are up to 66 and reported deaths from the illness are up to 48.

Reported deaths and died from illness represent the number of individuals who have a positive lab result and are now deceased. To count a person who died from COVID-19 disease, the medical record of the deceased person has to be reviewed by a physician and Infectious Disease and Outbreak staff. Once review is complete, if the death is attributed to COVID-19, the individual will also appear in died from illness. Reported death totals are cumulative and will never decrease.

Total hospitalizations statewide since March 13, are 314.

The City of Andalusia and surrounding municipalities are trying to combat the spread of the virus by imposing a curfew that will begin April 10.

Mayors in Andalusia, Opp, Florala, Red Level, River Falls and Lockhart have agreed to impose curfews in their municipalities from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., beginning Friday, April 10. The curfews will continue as long as deemed necessary.

In the surrounding counties, Butler and Crenshaw County have two confirmed cases, Conecuh County has four confirmed cases, Coffee County has eight confirmed cases and Geneva County has one confirmed case.
