A Shaw employee at Plant 65 in Andalusia has tested positive for COVID-19.
According to Vice President of Human Resources Mark Hartline, Shaw was notified late Wed., April 1, that an associate who works at the company’s Plant 65, Andalusia, location, tested positive for COVID-19.
The associate, who has not worked since Mon., March 23, is under the care of a medical provider.
“As part of Shaw’s ongoing COVID-19 preparedness measures, all Shaw plants are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected on a regular basis,” Hartline said. “This facility has been cleaned and disinfected multiple times per day since the associate’s last day at work on March 23. Associates who had close contact with the associate who tested positive for the virus have been identified and will self-quarantine.”
Since being notified of the associate’s positive test results on Wednesday the company’s risk management and HR teams conducted a full risk assessment of the facility.
The plant will undergo an accelerated shutdown process ahead of a planned closure the week of April 6.
“Our associates’ physical and financial wellbeing remain our priority,” Hartline said. “Since the emergence of COVID-19 in China, we’ve taken a number of steps to limit our associates’ potential exposure in the workplace and allow them to make the best decisions for themselves and their families. We continue to monitor the evolving situation closely and make adjustments to our operations, policies and procedures accordingly.”
