With the numbers of cases of COVID-19 rising in Alabama many parents are concerned about what to do for childcare. While there are still no known cases in Covington County community leaders are trying to prepare the community. 

Tuesday afternoon, the Star-News touched base with local daycares to see where they stand on being open and closed.

 

Tiny Tots owner Dianne Dubose said, “As of the moment we are sending out letters to all parents informing them that please know that we at Tiny Tots are going to be taking it one day at a time. We will be following  Alabama Department of Public Health’s orders. ADPH is recommending that the rest of the counties are to get things in order to start shutting daycares down. In anticipation of that we are hoping we can make it to the end of the week but this could change depending on news from the ADPH.”

 

Guardian Angel Daycare said  they would be open this week and have been taking extra precautions by sending letters home with students and educating them on symptoms. As the weeks go on and continue they are taking it day by day.

 

Casie Bush who is the director of Camp Sunshine said that they are currently open and they want to help the parents of the children that are trying their best to stay at work. They are taking extra major precautions by sanitizing and limiting visitors.

Andalusia Head Start will be closing along with Andalusia City Schools schedule. 

 

Billie  Loflin, owner of Little Friends, will be following all Andalusia City School rules and will be opening back when the Andalusia City Schools reopen. They are closed as of now and will reopen when Andalusia City Schools reopen.

 

Community Hospital Daycare will be business as usual with normal operating hours. Director Jamie Ray sent home letters of precautions about  hand washing and disinfecting. “We want parents to be informed of helping children understand the importance of hand washing. Word from the Department of Human Resources or public health. “It is up to each person to make up their own mind to send his or her child,” Ray said. “Our food is catered by the hospital and we have an attendance policy that states to be included in the meals,  you’re gonna have to be here and be on time. We are taking this very seriously as far as fevers we are asking our parents to let us know if they are visiting or being sick and what is going on,” Ray said. 

She also stated that in the 26 years she has worked in childcare she has never experienced anything like this. 

Dee-Lightful Kids Learning Center is open as of now.

Dimples Day Care will be open this week.
