The Andalusia High School varsity baseball team traveled to long time rival, Opp High School, Monday night, leaving with a 3-0 shutout over the Bobcats.
The pitching was intense on both sides. Andalusia pitcher Jacob Cravey (#13) got the win for the Bulldogs.
Trey Boutwell (#11) started on the mound for Opp. He gave up 3 runs on 7 hits over 5 ⅓ innings, striking out 4 and walking only 1.
Cravey went all 7 innings, allowing no runs on 3 hits and striking out 9.
Andalusia’s Caleb Blackston led with 2 hits in four at bats.
All of the Bulldogs’ runs came in the top of the 6th inning.
Opp gave up two errors, while the Bulldogs did not have one error on the field.
Ethan Cox, Brady James, Jesse Coon all 1 for 3 with a single each for the Bobcats.
“Jacob Cravey pitched a complete game three hits shutout and was dominant from start to finish,” AHS head coach Tyler Dent said. “Our defense played very well and was a great support and offense scored enough runs to win. The Opp team played very hard.”
With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 6-2 on the season.

The junior varsity game had a different outcome, with the Bobcats taking down the Bulldogs with a 10 run mercy rule in the fourth inning.
The game was tied 1-1 going to the bottom of the fourth inning, when Opp took the reigns and scored 10.
Terry Davis led the hitting effort for the Bobcats going 2 for 4, triple, inside the park HR, 4 RBI (career high) and a run scored.
Jake Coon went 2 for 3, with a single, double, RBI and 2 runs scored.
Walt Spurlin went 1 for 2, had a double, walk, RBI and 2 runs scored.
Jordan Jacobs was the winning pitcher with 4 IP, complete game, allowed 1 run, 1 hit and struck out 1.
With the win, the Bobcats improve to 8-6.
