Lurleen B. Wallace Community College welcomes Dr. Chris Cox as interim president with a public reception on Jan. 9, 2020, 2-4 p.m. in the lobby of the Martha and Solon Dixon Theater for the Performing Arts located on the Andalusia campus.
The announcement of Cox as interim president came from Alabama Community College System (ACCS) Chancellor Jimmy Baker, who said Cox’s wealth of experience and innovative ideas will be a great value to LBWCC.
“Chris brings tremendous energy and enthusiasm to every role he takes and I’m confident the students, faculty, staff, and administration will be well-served by his leadership.”
Cox has more than 24 years of higher education administration experience, most previously serving as ACCS executive director of Workforce Solutions and Innovations. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Science from Troy State University, a Master of Science in Educational Administration from Alabama State University, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Educational Administration from Auburn University.
The welcome reception, funded by the LBWCC Foundation, is an opportunity for the public to meet Cox as he steps into LBWCC’s lead role.
“Foundation board members and the LBWCC Executive Council invite the community to a reception to get to know Dr. Cox and welcome him to the College,” said Dr. Arlene Davis, associate dean of institutional advancement.
The reception is designed to allow community members an opportunity to drop by for a few minutes in a come-and-go, relaxed format.
