Andalusia High School graduates, Cole Bush and Daniel Nguyen, traveled to England this past summer to study at the University of Cambridge, having received International Study Fellowships from the Andalusia High School Scholarship Foundation.  The University of Cambridge was founded in 1209 and is ranked as one of the top five universities in the world. 

Cole and Daniel are the nineteenth and twentieth AHS graduates to receive the International Study Fellowship since its establishment in 2006.  Cole Bush is a senior in the Auburn University College of Architecture, Design and Construction, majoring in Industrial Design.  Daniel Nguyen graduated in May from the University of Alabama Culverhouse College of Business with a degree in Finance. Since returning from Cambridge, Daniel has begun his professional career with the Lockheed Martin Corporation in Washington DC.

Cole and Daniel were enrolled in the University of Cambridge’s International Summer Program; taking four academically rigorous for-credit courses and living in one of Cambridge’s most beautiful residential Colleges.  The Program also included morning plenary lectures and after-dinner talks by some of the university’s most prestigious academic professors and subject matter experts.  Their academic and residential experiences were complemented by many evening social events and weekend excursions to historical and culture sites across England. 

Cole and Daniel maintained journal while they were at Cambridge and prepared summary essays about their Cambridge experiences when they returned home.  These personal reflections are attached.

The Andalusia High School Scholarship Foundation’s International Study Program was established by the late Murray Findley in 2006.  Mr. Findley was a member of the AHS Class of 1948, a founding member of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, and a graduate of the University of Cambridge. Earlier this year, The Foundation recognized the Murray Findley Family, Mary Godwin and W. Robert Brown for their sustaining contributions to the International Study Program.  In recent years the Program has received additional financial support from the Estep Foundation, The Solon & Martha Dixon Foundation, Andalusia civic clubs and other individual contributors.
