Qualifying is under way for both the Republican and Democratic primaries.

Covington County Republican Party Chairman William Blocker said Wednesday that they had had interest and a few qualifiers already.

For Revenue Commissioner, Chuck Patterson has qualified.

For District 1, Covington County Commission, Kenneth Northey;

For District 3, Covington County Commission, Tony Holmes;

For District 4, Covington County Commission, Tommy McGaha

For Chairman, Covington County Commission, Kyle Adams

“We have had several others talk to me about qualifying and I have given some applications out,” Blocker said. “Those interested can see me or I left some applications at the Probate office.”

Those interested in qualifying as a Republican candidate may call Blocker at 804-5106.

Qualifying ends Friday, Nov. 8, at 5 p.m.

Those interested in qualifying for the Democratic Ticket may call Harriet Hubbard, chairwoman of the local party, at  504-2564.

Primaries will be held March 3, 2020. Polls will be open 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
