Fleeta Junior High School is happy to announce exciting new additions to the student playground areas.

The new pre-k playground was made possible from grant funding provided by the Alabama First Class Pre-K Program.

A separate playground area was made possible from donations provided in the memory of former Fleeta student Lorne Wayne Macer. The playground additions began during the 2018-2019 school year, and during this incoming school year, these newly developed areas will be accessible to the pre-k and elementary students. Early development of these playground areas was made possible through volunteer supporters and local businesses of Covington County.

“As the principal of Fleeta School, it makes me proud to see the positivity and excitement from our students experiencing outdoor play with new playground equipment,” Principal Seth Richards said. “With valuable support from Superintendent Shannon Driver and the Covington County Board of Education, these improvements have been made possible.

The faculty and students of Fleeta would like to thank the following supporters and former student alumni of Fleeta School: the Covington County Road Department provided topsoil, graded and leveled surfacing, and installed needed drainage for the newly developed pre-k playground.

“Former alumnus, Alex Wood (A&W Septic) did an excellent job of completing the finishing groundwork with additional topsoil and grade leveling for the fencing and additional square footage needs,” Richards said. “Fleeta alumnus, Jamie Register, developed and installed the excellent border design, mulch, and timbers securing the elementary playground area, in addition to, installing separate border timbers surrounding the new junior high science garden project.”

“On behalf of Fleeta School, I would also like to thank these local businesses for exceptional service and equipment: Joe Parker and Parker Metal Construction added the shaded metal awning and Kim Russell with American Made Fence installed the containment fencing for the pre-k area,” Richards said. “Again, I, as well as, our faculty, staff, and students appreciate all of these individuals who donated time and resources and the local businesses for their contributions at Fleeta School.”
