BRINGING BACK A VICTORY: Guilford, South All-Stars sweep North All-Stars

Pleasant Home rising senior Sarah Katherine Guilford helped the South All-Stars pick up a 3-0 win over the North All-Stars in Thursday’s North/South All-Star game in Montgomery.
In the first set of the day, the South All-Stars pulled away for a 25-17 win.
The second set was closer, but the South All-Stars were able to hold on for a 25-23 win.
The South All-Stars finished off the sweep with a 25-18 win in the third set.
Guilford led the South All-Stars with a pair of aces.
She also added a solid dig to save a point for the South All-Stars.
Guilford nearly had a big block, but just missed the attempt.
Victoria Schmer of Chelsea High School had one of the best performances of the day.
Schmer had 19 digs and five assists to lead the South All-Stars to victory.
For her performance, Schmer was awarded South MVP.
Avery Rodgers of Spanish Fort and Haley Palmer of McGill-Toolen Catholic had nine kills each.
Kayla Keshock of Spanish Fort dished out 18 assists to lead the way for the South All-Stars.
Ali Wiggins added 15 assists for the South All-Stars.
McKinley Ferguson of Jasper picked up the North MVP after picking up 10 kills, 10 digs and 10 assists.
Jasmine Brooks of Sparkman tacked on nine kills for the North All-Stars.
Brooks also had seven digs and two services aces.
Catherine Smith of Hazel Green had 13 assists for the North All-Stars.
Despite the South All-Stars’ win, they still trail the North All-Stars 14-8 in the all-time series between the two squads.
