July Jamz gearing up for first show

Despite the bad weather on the radar, July Jamz organizers are hard at work preparing for their first show tonight.
“As of right now, the plan is to go on with the concert,” Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce Director Chrissie Duffy said. “Of course we are going to keep our eyes on the weather though.”
Duffy’s main advice to people who are worried about the weather is to use their own judgment.
“You don’t have to wait for us to see if it is a good idea or not to come,” Duffy said. “Make sure to look at the weather yourself and decide if it is a good idea. If we do cancel before the event, then we will, of course, make notifications of that via social media.”
Safety is the number one thing on Duffy’s mind heading into tomorrow’s event.
“We want to keep every one safe tomorrow,” Duffy said. “We want to keep the artists safe, their equipment safe and the public safe, but we also want the show to go on. So, we will see and heavily monitor the radar.”
In preparation for the show, Duffy said that the heat has made things more difficult.
“We have definitely been battling the heat,” Duffy said. “But I can’t say enough about the city of Andalusia employees. They have worked tirelessly to build our stage and help us with all of the little design things that come up. They are just so kind and generous. There is so much time and preparation that goes into this and they have done such a great job.”
Gates open tonight at 5:30 p.m., foam frenzy starts at 7 p.m., and the Park Band performs at 7 p.m.
