Junior class helps bring ‘Vegas style’ to AHS prom

It’s “Las Vegas Night” at Andalusia High School. There will be cards, dice, poker chips, lights, music, food and lots of fun. But don’t get the wrong idea. The junior students chose this as their prom theme this year. The cards, dice, and poker chips will only be used for decorations.

This annual event will take place Thurs., March 19, with senior presentations of more than 50 couples beginning at 7 p.m.

Students and parents have been working together to create decorations that are “picture perfect,” but at the same time economical. Cardboard boxes wrapped with white paper become dice; poster paper, paint and glitter become over-sized playing cards; and sheets of foam board become lead-out and picture backdrops.

Store-bought “theme” decorations get more and more expensive each year, so creativity has become a necessary part of prom decorating. Parents continue to be an important part of prom time at Andalusia High School as they help with construction, materials, labor, refreshments and extra funding. As one can see, parental involvement at Andalusia High School is alive and well.

Thanks parents. This is a great time for students, parents and class sponsors to work together to provide an enjoyable evening for the students. Everyone appreciates your support, especially the junior class sponsors.
